ChemStar Dry

    ChemStar® Dry was developed for laboratory operations which require high pumping speed and deep vacuum, such as vacuum manifolds (Schlenk line), freeze dryer, vacuum oven and glove boxes. The system combines a proprietary vacuum blower with patented PTFE diaphragm technology to pump quickly down (150 l/min) to the working range for most evaporative operations (2.0 to 0.1 mbar) with an ultimate pressure of 10-2 mbar.

The total range of scientifically useful vacuums extends from approx. 1000 mbar (atmospheric pressure) down to 10-12 mbar – the ultra-high vacuum range.   About Vacuum Degassing / Desiccator Substances that oxidize when exposed to air are typically kept under vacuum in a desiccator to reduce the reaction rate. Pick & Place

What is Pick and Place System or Automated Movement System? Pick & place systems allow automated movement of items using a vacuum pump and movable rig. The pump provides vacuum to a suction cup, which picks up the item. The item is moved to its desired location using the rig, then the vacuum pump is disconnected from the suction cup, returning to atmospheric pressure and releasing the item.

Vacuum Workhholding

Vacuum workholding (or vacuum chucking) is used in a wide range of applications to hold an item in place while an operation is performed. Vacuum is applied to a surface with a number of holes in it. When the item is placed on the surface, the vacuum holds it in place. A high flow rate is required for this application as the item may not cover all of the holes in the surface.

What Are Vacuum Manifolds or Schlenk Lines? Vacuum manifolds, also known as Schlenk Lines, are commonly used for the final drying of samples removed from a rotary evaporator. Organic solvents and/or acids left behind during the distillation process are removed over several hours or more depending on the sample size. A foreline cold trap upstream of the pump is always recommended to prevent the ingestion of liquids. An acid neutralization trap is also recommended between the cold trap and the pump when strong acids are present in the sample.
